New-operator due diligence for the UK market. I look at newly launched casinos that sit outside the UK Gambling Commission and GamStop, and I start with the company rather than the casino.
What I cover
Newly launched offshore casinos, which are the hardest kind of site to assess because the evidence you would normally use does not exist yet. A casino that has been trading four years has a complaint history and a payout record. One that opened in spring has neither, so I work from the paper trail instead: the licensee named in the footer, whether that entry is verifiable in the regulator's register, what else the same company operates, and whether the terms are dated.
How I work
Every operator I write about gets the same sequence. I identify the company that holds the licence rather than the brand on the front page. I check the number in the relevant register instead of trusting a badge in the footer. I search the licensee to see what else it runs, because a parent with eleven live brands means the site in front of me is a reskin and the record worth reading belongs to the parent. Then I read the withdrawal terms before the bonus terms, since the withdrawal section is where an operator tells you what a win will actually feel like.
Where I have deposited and withdrawn, I give the figure and the date. Where I have not, the review says untested. I will not publish a payout time I have not observed, and I will not print a bonus figure that does not appear in an operator's own published terms, which is why some cards on this site have a blank welcome field.
What I will not write
I do not describe an offshore casino as safe. Safety is not something a three month old operator can demonstrate, and the word does more work for the operator than for the reader. I do not treat a large welcome percentage as a mark of quality, because a bigger match with heavier wagering is a pricing decision rather than a favour. And I do not write around GamStop. If the scheme is the only thing standing between somebody and a deposit, the useful information is that Gamban and BetBlocker do the same job, not which site will take the registration.

I am based in Leeds and I have spent the past several years reading gambling operators as companies: corporate filings, licence registers, platform providers and the trail that connects one brand to another. The reason I ended up specialising in new launches is that it is the part of the market where that reading actually changes the answer.
